How to lift spirits, develop relationships, engage your newly home-based people, and have something

This morning I've been working with a fabulous client who has globally dispersed teams. I'm so excited to share with you [with permission] something she's introduced to her organisation which has tangibly lightened my mood. I can only guess how its helping initiate conversations and build morale at her end. I'm genuinely excited.

Based on an old UK television programme, Behind the Keyhole, what you have to do is ask staff to send a picture of their environment, maybe for e.g. their new working area. This gets anonymously shared [internally] with much fanfare [Actual fanfare and much drama as you'll see when you click the link].

Staff then have to guess who's environment it is and submit their guesses to the organiser. They've even got a leaderboard.

Genius.

In between starting this post and finishing it I've had a long video conference with another client who I told about this post. He said what he was doing in his team was virtual tours of each others' outside space. Today he's been [virtually] onto someone's balcony, down to the bottom of someone else's garden, and learned that a very lucky colleague has fallow deer at the bottom of their garden which his colleague gets to feed. How lucky is that?

What are you doing in your organisation? Let's share what's working well - let's be honest, we could all use some light relief.

The session was excellent. I thought we were able to have very frank and constructive conversations.
