Her only weapon a biro clenched in both hands

Just got this from a client with a note to do some more work with them next year. [Which is great news, they're brilliant.]

Two pages were turned down, written and and labelled and I’m laughing a lot! :)

There’s a reason groups develop limiting beliefs about strategy away days and it’s often because the leader has already decided what going to happen so it’s a thinly veiled attempt at a buy-in process. If people don’t believe their contribution is going to make any difference at all you soon end up with apathy, cynicism, scepticism – and this group were no different initially [we’ve worked together quite a lot.]

The difference here was my client was consciously trying to shift his leadership style so we worked on real issues which were affecting them all. We made it a condition that any decision made was one they could all live with, so this meant they all had to show “leadership, inspiration and encouragement to others”.

As for the second passage - Focussed intensity I like. I'll take that with thanks. Though my weapon of choice is more usually pens which work.
